Greetings from sunny Frigiliana! The weather has changed towards summer, and we were both wearing only shorts and T-shirts today. This is the first time this year.
We have also made some other preparations for summer in order for you to enjoy your holiday with us to the fullest extent.
Our garden grass had worn out pretty badly and we decided to exchange it for a new and better one. It was quite a challenge to dismantle the old grass, bring the remains of it six floors up and dispose of it. The other challenge was then to carry almost a ton of leveling sand down, spread it and even the surface. And then carry three (BIG)rolls of artificial grass down the stairs. Lots of sweat and effort, but it was truly worth it!

It is nice to watch, and it feels great under your feet. There shouldn’t be any room for weeds to come through, and it should be anchored tight enough to stand the winds of the seasons. Well done Maarit and Hannu!
As always, when we have time, we try to explore the nearby areas to find interesting and exiting things for you to do during your holiday with us. First, we went to Setenil de las Bodegas and what an amazing place that was. Most of the village center has been built in caves with just the outer wall of the house being built house-like visible. It was a bit tricky to get in and out with a car, but it is manageable if you have the nerves of a cow (a Finnish idiom for extremely calm person). So, if you plan to visit Ronda, this is just a bit further and definitely worth a visit.

Another trip that we took was to Antequera, and we found a true gem. Originally, we wanted to see the old town of Antequera and as we were exploring the historic sights of the town, we visited the Tourist Info and learned that there is also a Nature Reserve nearby. Antequera is great worth of a visit, but if you are into things out of this world, go to The El Torcal Nature Reserve.

The scenery is just unbelievable with natural rock formations that look like they were made by machinery of sort or aliens. At the top, which is about 1 400 meters, there is a visitors’ center and a restaurant. From there you can start some marked hiking routes, shorter or longer. On the routes you can really explore the amazing natural features of rocks all around. You can’t really describe it; you’ll have to experience it.
It has been great to chat with you again and hope to talk some more wine in the future, until next time, with love, Maarit & Hannu
