Greetings from sunny Frigiliana! We are doing great, and it has been a busy summer; busier than last summer and we are still alive. We have had lovely guests here which has been empowering and making the work we do so meaningful.
As most of you know, we take care of everything that’s possible and reasonable ourselves here at La Perla de Frigiliana and we have to admit that late October and November have their advantages. Most of the summer months we were busy seven days a week all day long. We call it a day off when no one is coming or leaving, and the house is full or empty. In the summer we didn’t have many of those but by the time this blog is published, we’ll have for sure some time also for ourselves.
It is great since we love taking long walks and hikes in the mountains and Mid-October’s bit cooler weather makes the walks and hikes easier for our dog Isla.
Enjoying a meal at local restaurants is also rewarding whenever we have time for that.
We had a great Ruta del Arte happening in Frigiliana 3-5
October where tens of artists displayed and sold their work of art in several places around Frigiliana along the ‘art route’. The works are beautiful, and they represent a variety of styles and materials. Stay tuned for next year Ruta del Arte here: https://www.facebook.com/rutadelartefrigiliana
There were also Ferias in Torrox and Nerja in early October. Both have great music and dance performances and a lot of people enjoying the festivities that spread throughout the pueblos. More pictures and feelings of both ferias you can find from here:
If you have been following us and reading these blogs, you might remember that we have two big olive trees in our garden, and we trimmed them in February. Now they produce a lot of olives, and we decided that it’s time to try to make them edible. It is a test, and we’ll let you know how we succeed in the next blogpost. Now they are mixed with sea salt for about two weeks to get the bitterness out. Interesting and exciting!
We tried to improve our visibility from the main road, since we still had some guests with difficulty finding us. Now we have two signs with our name, and it looks like this from the main road:
