It has been busy at La Perla de Frigiliana! April was almost fully booked throughout, and the weather kept us busy due to a couple of sandy rains and thereby cleaning of the staircases, windows and balconies. It wasn’t a Calima, but we got a notable amount of African sand on our outdoor areas on two occasions. Otherwise weather treated us well in April!
Semana Santa, Easter festivities were celebrated this year from April 11 to 20 in Frigiliana. To our experience the festivities or events were nicely divided between Frigiliana and Nerja, so that you could see things happening in both towns. Easter is definitely one of the biggest Christian events in the area and seem to attract more and more people to these tiny villages every year.
There was an extremely long power cut in Spain on 28th of April. In our area it lasted over 12 hours, and it meant a lot of loss in food and an amazingly dark evening without any streetlights. Nerja looked like a ghost town from up here. Never experienced anything like it. The mobile network and internet were also partly down, so it meant a quiet evening in the candlelight, like in the old times.
Since our pool has been so popular in the winter and spring, we thought that we’d get some more things to play with in the pool.
Ever heard of Aqua Jogging?
You can now enjoy jogging, walking, aerobics and many other things floating with an Aqua Jogger belt in our pool. Great fun and good exercise for everyone!
Have you ever wondered what the big and maybe not so pretty building is at the entrance of Frigiliana old town?
It currently houses the only cane honey factory in Europe. Why this was topical right now is the annual Frigiliana Día de la Miel de Caña (annual cane honey festival) that was held on the fourth of May. You can visit the factory on a guided tour that day and of course the town market was full of cane honey products.
